Original and remix are two sides of the same coin, is really complicated for me to choose one over the other. I’ll play both to death. I really like it when dance music has this silly sense of humour and a lot of energy at the same time (not talking of DJ Tiësto, though). 10/10 Marc Pinol – Interresting! Will try loud:) Philipp Straub – Huge fan of this EP.I’ve been hammering Cosmo’s mix Max Pask – Outstanding!!! Simon Says – love the cosmo, excellent as usual, supporting Jerry Bouthier – strong release..i like different elements of each mix.. the original is more quirky, but the remix has a raw feel Duke Dumont – loved cosmo’s remix Koji – fantastic release and big hopes for the future from the Draughtsman, love og and remix equally, bravo! Riotous Rockets – marketing is getting better and better, this one is just brilliant Clement Meyer – great release. i like both versions and i will play it for sure SwitchSt(d)ance – Great tune. I love it. Marco Dos Santos – Fantastic release.I love the original and remix Alvaro Cabana – BOMB!! Melle Caro – funky funny ! David Blot – So groovy baby! On repeat!” - Ed – (Mixmag) – “Amazing mixes from Ewan Pearson!!” - Sergio B – (deejay.es) – “Amazing tune! I love three versions. But If I had to choose one, it would be Ewan Pearson mix. I like acid sound.” - Scan Mode – (DJ Magazine Spain) – “Pearson Mixes for me!!!” - Stuart Patterson – (Faith Fanzine / Radio) – “Both instrumental mixes are great for me.” - Steve – (LittleWhiteEarbuds.com) – “Wow, the original is just gorgeous. Bobby’s vocals sound like heaven between the relatively spare beats.” - Groove Magazine Germany – “Review in our next issue.” - Tsugi Magazine France- “Ewan Pearson vocal mix is gooood.” - Michel de Hey – (Fresh FM) – “Really sweet song with respectful remixes, love the vibe of the original but the remixes are ace as well!” - Victor – (DJ Magazine Spain) – “Amazing stuff, all remixes are ace and so is the original!! 9/10”

DJS FEEDBACK

As always with Marketing, we got strange, edgy but very interesting material here. Darabi’s mix caught me first but Tim’s mix is a grower, I can feel it. Very singular release! Dairmount - love it ! 5/5 Jennifer Cardini - Darabi remix for me! Arnaud Le Texier - Sweeet! i like them all, my fav is tim’s cut Krikor - the tim paris remix is my favourite. been playing it loads recently Alex Egan - This was the tune of the night for me last time I played Fabric Ivan Smagghe - Tim Paris’s mix is just lethal!!!! Remain - My fave remix is Tim’s, Darabi’s one is cool too Cosmo Vitelli - great stuff. Darabi remix is my pick but Tim rework is nice as well Okain - Amazing Tiefschwarz - super original by bozz and a super remix by mr paris for the dancefloors! Kiki - EXCELLENT!!! Max Pask - both remixes are dancefloor monsters Clement Meyer - really love the original, looking forward to the lp. the Tim Paris mix is fantastic, been playing it a lot. great release! Matt Walsh - 5/5 Dubfire - Darabi’s mix grooves really well. like it! Russ Gabriel - excellent Craig Richards - Loving the Tim Paris mix to death : ) Michael Mayer - Really liking the Paris remix Allez Allez. boswell is a very clever chap who knows how to sing very well (in a demented deeply perverted way)over jacking nu house anthems. tims mix adds an extra special sheen Trevor Jackson – Darabi remix is coool ! Eric Duncan – nice trax this darabi remix – will try out Slam - Weird, different but I really like it:) Philip Straub (Flex Vienna) - Nice stuff – great remixes too Riotous Rockers - full support tim remix ! 5/5 Kolombo Will play Darabi and Tim Paris Rmx!! Melle Caro cool release, i specially like darabi’s remix. will play Undo

Also played by M.A.N.D.Y, I:Cube, Mugwump, Siskid, Eddie Richards, Magda & Richie Hawtin.

One time proprietor of the infamous Atlas Records shop in Soho, London over a decade ago, Pete Herbert divides his time these days either behind the wheels of steel at clubs and parties around Europe or in the studio working solo or with friends on their various musical projects… He is found regularly behind the decks at places such as Fabric, Mondo, Goa, Cafe Capitol playing out an unexpected mix of Balearic leftfield disco/house/italo/dub/funk and beyond!!

Building up a dj reputation in Parisian underground circles, doing parties with Jef K, Chloé, Alexkid and Ivan Smagghe, working the dancefloor but also developing his skills in the studio, Tim Paris had his first breakthrough with the remix of a rock tune called “Future Now” that became one of the biggest underground tunes of 2004. From there Tim Paris didn’t stop but continued to release quality tracks and remixes.

The two come together as “Challenge,” on Tim’s imprint Marketing Music, the follow up to their 2008 release together on Kompakt (“Zimmer“). Just a few chords into the track, and its obvious to hear – the “Broken Clock E.P. ” has been too long coming…

The titular “Broken Clock” is a brooding piece of work. The steady metronomic rhythms counteract the name, always uniform in their steady timekeeping. Layering on top is a quasi disco-esque slant on straight up electronica; we are lulled into a false sense of security with the live bass (that almost harks back to some of Death in Vegas’s better material…) only to be subtly positioned into a fully electronic machine with the staple bleeps and clicks that classic tracks are made of.

“Wind Up” follows on this trend but pushing itself more into the organic side of things. The live drum breaks and shamelessly analogue synths mimicking plucked guitars to build up into a faux funk riff-off, all the while incomprehensible vocals stab in the background. This track has shades of some real classic electronic experimental pieces of the golden age of synths and would sit well amongst these tracks, a proud thumb-up to the contemporary productions that saturate the market.

This said, if old-school isn’t your thing (or at least not THAT old school) then the “Wind Up: Genius of Time Remix” will suit your palate indefinitely. Genius of Time, aka ‘Cloud‘ from Gothenburg, Sweden…Pushes the hands of father time to the reference point in early house, the vocals are pushed to the front to build us up into a hazy groove, that you wish could go on forever…
